HELP/poison oak or ivy

HELP!!!!! Does anyone know what to do for poison oak and poison ivy. The
pharmacist says use benadryl cream to stop the itch. We have had it for
over a week and it only seems to spread, not go away. My 6yr old has it and
it is spreading because he scratches (I think without realizing it). I
hesitate to take him to the dr. because we are in the middle of changing
insurance.

Also, how do you get rid of it out of your yard. We just bought this house
in South Carolina. We have only lived in SC a year. I grew up in Lubbock,
TX where nothing grows, so I don’t know exactly what to do in a place where
everything grows.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
