Crockpot Meatball Hoagies
Ingredients:
2 to 3 pounds lean ground beef (or ground white meat turkey or
chicken)
1/4 to 1/2 cup Italian flavored bread crumbs
1/8 to 1/4 cup Parmesan or Romano cheese, grated
1 egg
1 jar or can spaghetti sauce, any brand (I use my homemade, about 3
to 4 cups)
4 Tbsp. water or vegetable oil
Directions:
Combine ground meat with bread crumbs, cheese and egg. Mix well; form
into about 12-15 meatballs. Place meatballs in crockpot in in single
layer with 4 Tbsp. of water or vegetable oil. Set crockpot on LOW
setting; cover and cook 4-6 hours. Drain off any grease; add the
spaghetti sauce with about 1/4 cup of water. Mix to coat meatballs.
Leave crockpot on LOW setting and cook another 1-2 hours, until
meatballs are cooked through and sauce is bubbly.
Put 3-4 meatballs on each hoagie roll with some sauce. Top with
mozzarella cheese, wrap in foil and bake in oven, if desired.
Yield: about 4 servings.
