If you suffer from dandruff you know what a pain it can be! Here is a recipe one of our members submitted over 10 years ago and it continues to be an effective, inexpensive treatment that can be thrown together in under 2 minutes.
There is a common scalp condition known as dandruff that causes flakes of skin to appear. This is neither contagious nor serious. The condition can be embarrassing and can be difficult to treat.

In general, dandruff is a result of seborrheic dermatitis, which causes oily, red, and scaly skin. When these white or pale yellow scales flakes off, dandruff results. Seborrheic dermatitis can occur anywhere you have oil glands, such as on your eyebrows, in your groin, in your armpits, and on your nose.
Using a gentle shampoo on a daily basis can treat mild dandruff. Another option is to use a medicated shampoo. There is a possibility that symptoms will return later. That’s where this delightful home remedy for dandruff comes into play.
Homemade Dandruff Treatment
You’ll Need:
10 aspirin tablets
3/4 cup warm water
Dissolve the aspirin in water. After shampooing, massage into scalp, leave on for 10 minutes, then rinse.
How Does Aspirin Help Dandruff
The main component of aspirin, Salicylic acid, is the active ingredient most commonly used in commercially prepared dandruff shampoos. As well as exfoliating dandruff flakes, Salicylic acid also prevents oil buildup on your scalp and reduces inflammation.

I suffered with severe dandruff for several years before joining the “no poo” movement and getting rid of all commercial shampoos and conditioners. Within a couple of weeks my scalp healed completely, my dandruff went away and my hair has never been healthier or looked better.
