Tingly Mint Lotion for Men

This is a wonderfully soothing cooling lotion recipe that makes a great gift for men.
This recipe utilizes the cooling, refreshing properties of mint (fresh or dried).

Mint water is easily made by boiling fresh or dried mint leaves in water and then letting the mixture cool. Strain off the mint leaves. I generally use 1-cup fresh mint (1/4 cup dried mint leaves) to 1-cup water.

This doesn’t need to be difficult, you can cheat and use 2 mint teabags steeped in boiling water for 10 minutes and cooled.

You’ll Need:
1/2-cup mint water
1/8 tsp. borax
1/2 c. sunflower oil
1 tsp. coconut oil
1 tsp. beeswax
3-4 drops peppermint essential oil (optional)
20 drops grapefruit seed extract (GSE)

Dissolve the borax in the mint water.

In a double boiler, combine the sunflower, coconut oil and beeswax over medium heat until melted and fully incorporated.

Continue to bring the mix almost to boiling. Heat the mint water/borax mix for 1 minute in the microwave.

Pour the warm mint water/borax solutions into a blender and add the melted oils/beeswax. Whip. Add GSE and Whip again.

Add Peppermint oil and a couple drops of green food coloring (if desired).

Pour the lotion into a clean container with a lid, cool.

To use, massage a small amount into your skin.

We prefer to use Fresh Mint for this recipe, but again, mint tea can be used, dried mint, etc. Use whatever you have available to you, I’m sure the man in your life will appreciate this great gift!

You may be wondering what is the point of the borax in the recipe- It’s an emulsifier and it works to hold the ingredients together without separation issues. Yes, it CAN be irritating to the lungs if inhaled, but then again, so is Water. If you choose to leave it out, your recipe Will Fail after 24-36 hours.

The grapefruit seed extract (GSE) is used in recipes to hinder mold and fungus growth. It is not recommended to leave it out of the recipe.
