i only tried a half batch because i couldn’t find the grater. i did chop the soap pretty small; but it was still coarse. used about 5 T per load because of the size of the washer and added my store bought liquid softener.

i have been using this for about a year, except i add 1 large box of Baking Soda and OxyClean to mine. Love the fact that it doesn’t have all the perfumes, but the clothes are CLEAN. I also use a ball of Aluminum Foil, in place of a dryer sheet.
The clothes are still soft, wrinkle free and no static. I have allergies to perfumes and just want clean clothes. Besides, it is so much cheaper than buying fabric softener all the time.
i haven’t been able to find fels naptha but was able to get a soap bar called linda. then went on the hunt for washing soda which i also couldn’t find but i read on a few sites that you could make it by putting baking soda on a tray and baking it at 400 degrees for 30 minutes. Has anyone tried that or heard of it?
