Colored sand is fun for all ages to play in and make unique decorative containers. Here is a simple, inexpensive way to Make your own colored Sand . . .

Fill paper dixie cups half full of light colored beach sand or toybox sand. Add enough water to each dixie cup to completely cover sand, Add drops of food coloring until desired darkness (color). Stir well. Set aside for 20 minutes.

Carefully pour out the water (you can use a coffee filter for this, to make it easier.)

Dump the sand onto paper towels, spreading it out & air dry. This is a fun way for kids to learn how to mix different primary colors.
