Almonds are nearly famous for their nourishing benefits to the skin and almond oil is often favored for use in massage, but did you know that combining it with honey can clear your complexion, smooth and moisturize your skin and help exfoliate gently, reducing the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and crows feet?! Here’s a simple scrub recipe you can throw together for a fabulous complexion . . .honey-almond-scrub

You’ll Need:
1/2 c. Cold cream or plain yogurt
1 T. Honey
1 T. finely ground almonds

Grind the almonds in your blender, Mix in the honey and cold cream (or yogurt) until well blended.

Apply as a mask to face and neck for 2-3 minutes, rinse and enjoy the glow. Store any remaining in a sealed jar in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.

Regarding the Almonds: We recommend using whole raw almonds that have been soaked for at least 6 hours. Almond skins contain phytic acid, an enzyme inhibitor, by soaking them, phytase is released, which counteracts the phytic acid (natures design to help keep the seeds from sprouting too soon!). Besides, you get twice as much nut for half the price!

Of course you could always add QUALITY Essential Oilsto this for even deeper benefits. We personally use Young Living Oils. 2-3 Drops of a Very high quality oil is sufficient. If you’re using regular store oils be aware that they may not be pure or properly harvested and you might need up to 30 drops.

Oils you might want to use:

Carrot Seed
– known for skin rejuvenation

Frankincense– antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, natural toner, reduces wrinkles, tightens skin

Geranium– Helps to regulate oil production and therefor helps to reduce acne breakouts, also helps to improve the elasticity of skin, and tightens it, giving the appearance of fewer wrinkles. Geranium is known to help with eczema, ringworm and many other skin conditions as well
