If you use the bleach method, make sure there’s water in it.
This is how we’ve been cleaning our toilet for years. Just make sure if you put bleach in your toilet overnight, make sure that no one uses it unless they flush first. I’ve made that mistake more than once and it’s not pleasant. Bleach mixed with urine or feces makes a horrible smell.
