    Default Buttermilk substitute

    Make your own buttermilk!

1 cup of milk (must be at least 2% or there's not enough fat to react)
    2 tablespoons lemon juice.

Mix, cover, and let sit 10 minutes, then it's ready for use

    Thanks.

I keep a thing of buttermilk powder in my kitchen. It doesn't go bad and I would never use up a carton of buttermilk before it went bad.

This explained so much to me! Allergic to milk so I was using coconut milk or almond milk and it sure doesn't work to make Buttermilk out of it!
