Up to 41% Off Select Bel-Art Vacuum Desiccators
The Scienceware 420100000 Space Saver vacuum desiccator has a white polypropylene bottom and a clear polycarbonate cylindrical cover with a flat top that provides greater volume than standard hemispherical covers. The chemical-resistant bottom can support incandescent crucibles on a porcelain plate. The shatterproof desiccator holds a full vacuum of 75.9cm Hg at room temperature for 24 hours and remains airtight even if not under a vacuum. A neoprene O-ring creates a tight seal down to 0 degrees C without grease, although grease can still be used. The polypropylene stopcock has a polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) plug and takes 6.4mm (1/4") I.D. (inside diameter) tubing. The desiccator measures 20.6cm high with an I.D. of 14.9cm. The perforated plate is 0.32cm thick and has a diameter of 14cm.
Desiccators are sealable containers used to remove water from a sample, or to preserve moisture-sensitive electronics or lab consumables, typically in laboratory, electronic, and aerospace applications. Desiccators are often used with desiccants, which are drying agents such as silica gel or activated charcoal placed under a removable platform. Standard desiccators are typically lidded jars used with a desiccant. Vacuum desiccators have a stopcock that allows air evacuation from the desiccator. Gas purge desiccators use a gas port to introduce nitrogen or other gasses, creating a controlled environment. Vacuum and gas purge desiccators may also be used with desiccants. Many desiccators are used with vacuum grease, which helps create a seal.
Bel-Art Products manufactures scientific products, including labware, testing equipment, and safety supplies. The company, founded in 1946 and headquartered in Wayne, NJ, also makes products under the Scienceware brand.
