GlacierWe have a well, that my husband installed over 18 years ago. It is

still going strong… although I agree that lightning can strike, surges can

happen and you should have a savings for that risk happening,… it hasn’t

happened to us in 18 years.

Also, we have been on septic for that long as well, never had a problem with

it. You won’t if it’s installed correctly, the leaching lines etc, no tree

roots etc.. and also the thing I believe in most. Do not flush anything

down the toilet except your human waste. No toiletpaper, tampons, etc. My

mom and dad had a septic and well and never had to do anything to their well

in over 30 years, never had to do anything to the septic in 30 years, then

they had to replace it because the lid broke or something.

So, as far as I am concerned, LOL, I’ll keep my well and septic… the

chances of having to have it re-drilled? Pretty slim. My grandmother’s well

is a shallow well and is still going strong in over 85 years of pumping for

her huge family and now my sister’s family.

      To each his own.
