Simple Syrup

Some of the recipes above call for a simple syrup. While simple syrups can be flavored ahead of time, each of the above listed recipes is calling for plain simple syrup only. This syrup is just equal portions of sugar and water heated to ensure the sugar dissolves completely and isn’t grainy when used in your favorite recipes.

1/2 c. water
1/2 c. sugar

Combine the ingredients in a saucepan over medium heat until the sugar dissolves complete and the edges of the liquid start to simmer. The syrup should be clear, not cloudy. Immediately remove from heat, cool.

You can store basic simple syrup in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 weeks.

  1. These look wonderful! Wowza! I love the idea of layered pudding pops. Is the pudding thick enough so you can make them all at once without freezing them in between layers?
