KFC branded itself as “Finger-Lickin’ Good” for 64 years, but when the Coronavirus pandemic struck in 2020, the slogan did not feel so great and the chain was forced to put it on hold. On the other hand, KFC’s Finger-Lickin’ Good Sauce was dropped from the menu, and instead, the new KFC Sauce is offered for dipping chicken fingers, morsels of popcorn chicken, and wings, or for spreading on chicken sandwiches.
Finger-Lickin’ Good Sauce tasted a lot like the sauce you would get from the chicken finger chains like Zaxby’s and Raising Cane’s. KFC is now offering a new sauce. This time they seem to have been inspired by the sweet-and-smoky mustard sauce found at Chick-fil-A.
For our clone, we’ll use mostly regular Grey Poupon Dijon mustard, with a small amount of Grey Poupon Country Dijon in addition, since mustard seeds are detectable in the sauce and we wanted to replicate the texture as well as the flavor. If you follow a keto lifestyle, here’s the KFC Sauce – ketofied!
Copycat KFC Sauce
1/2 cup mayonnaise (we use Aldi brand)
3 tablespoons light brown sugar, (packed)
1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon Grey Poupon Dijon mustard
1 teaspoon Grey Poupon Country Dijon mustard
1 1/2 teaspoons white wine vinegar
1/4 teaspoon hickory liquid smoke
1/8 teaspoon paprika
scant 1/8 tsp salt
Mix all the ingredients together in a small bowl. Chill for 30 minutes, stirring afterward. Use as a spread or dip for chicken nuggets and chicken filets. This recipe makes about 3/4 cup, but can easily be doubled or tripled as desired.
Keto KFC Sauce
1/2 cup mayonnaise (we use Aldi brand)
3 tablespoons keto brown sugar, (packed)
1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon Grey Poupon Dijon mustard
1 teaspoon Grey Poupon Country Dijon mustard
1 1/2 teaspoons white wine vinegar
1/4 teaspoon hickory liquid smoke
1/8 teaspoon paprika
scant 1/8 tsp salt
Mix all the ingredients together in a small bowl. Chill for 30 minutes, stirring well just prior to use.
Makes 3/4 cup.
