Bring the flavor of Ben & Jerry’s Orange Cream Dream Ice Cream into your own kitchen without having to run to the store (or wait for it to be in Season!)- this scrumptious copycat recipe is a time honored classic . . .
This is one of our favorite recipes because it doesn’t require any cooking first, which makes it an easy “measure and pour” recipe that the kids can make without supervision.
You’ll Need:
1/3 cup Orange juice concentrate; – thawed
2 tsp Vanilla
2 cup Heavy or whipping cream
3/4 cup Sugar
2/3 cup Half and half
(Optional up to 1 Tbs. freshly grated Orange rind)
Place the cream in a medium mixing bowl and start whisking on medium/high, add the sugar a couple of tablespoons at a time, continuing to whisk on medium/high setting with a stand or hand mixer. Keep adding the sugar until completely blended, about a minute or so. Add in the half and half and whisk to blend. Add the thawed concentrated Orange juice and vanilla, and then immediately transfer to your ice cream maker. Process according to the manufacturers directions for your particular machine.
If you’re adding the grated orange rind, do so during the last 10 minutes of processing.
For us we simply use the kitchenaid ice cream bowl attachment for our kitchenaid mixer.
This recipes makes one generous quart.

I love this ice cream! It is so creamy and delicious. I’ve found that the best way to make it is with orange juice, but you can also replace the eggs and milk with vanilla yogurt if you want to cut down on fat and cholesterol.
