Creating your own chai tea from scratch is very easy. Simply steep a mug of your favorite black tea and add 1-2 T of this delicious, fragrant make ahead spice blend.
You’ll Need:
- 1 14-ounce can unsweetened condensed milk (low-fat or nonfat, if desired)
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cardamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper
Pour the entire can of milk into a clean, dry jar. Add all the spices and cover tightly with a lid. Place in the refrigerator. The longer it stays refrigerated, the tastier it becomes.

how long does this last in the fridge, before a new batch would need to be made ?
Our experience has been 10-14 days, but it really tastes best after the first 24 hours so the flavors have time to unite.
must try this.sounds yummy!
Can’t wait to try this!
great idea! i would have to use this fast because i lack refrigeration but i can imagine doing this when “the girls” come over for a visit.
Have got to try this! I love iced chai but the stuff in the store is so expensive! I keep most of those spices on hand anyway.
And the Asian market I go to carries Thai tea. It is delicious on its own.
Wow ! I made it this am and I am enjoying it as I type. Great recipe…
