    • How much butter do you melt in the pan? Is that the 1/2 c of shortening?

      No, shortening and butter are not the same. The shortening is part of the cake mix,the butter is used to caramelize the sugar with the pineapple.

      You can use however much you prefer, we generally use 6-8 TBS.
