Saucy smokies aka Lil’ Smokies party munchies are so easy to throw together and can be made a variety of ways, they can be sweet, spicy, smokey, or all of the above! Here are a few easy ways to make delicious saucy smokies- They’re sure to be a hit at your next gathering!
If you’d prefer something a little different, all of these delicious sauce combinations work well with meatballs or sliced franks as well! Keep in mind that using hotdogs will greatly reduce cooking times.
When we have a gathering we usually use our triple slow cooker and make three different flavors at once. Some with the smoked cocktail sausages and some with meatballs.
7 Saucy Lil’ Smokies Party Munchies
Sweet saucy smokies are the perfect potluck appetizer dish. The sauce is thick and flavorful, clinging to each of the smokies, creating a burst of flavor with every bite.
In each of the recipes below, we refer to Lit’l smokies smoked sausages. These are fully cooked cocktail sized smoked sausages that only need to be warmed up prior to serving. There are several different brands of cocktail sausages, but we have the best flavor results with these.
1 Saucy Smokies
You’ll Need:
2 packages cocktail sausages
1 tablespoon Sriracha sauce
1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
1 1/2 cups ketchup
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
In a bowl combine ketchup, Sriracha sauce, mustard, brown sugar and Worcestershire sauce stirring well. Dump the cocktail sausages (or mini kielbasas) into a slow cooker/crockpot and pour the sauce over the top. Heat on low for about 2-4 hours.
Alternatively, you can combine all the sauce ingredients in a saucepan over medium heat, bring to a boil, reduce the heat add the sausages, stirring to coat, Heat throughout (about 10 minutes). Serve with Mashed potatoes and salad for a quick, easy meal.
2 Crockpot BBQ Beer Smokies
You’ll Need:
4 (14 oz) packages little smokies cocktail sausages
18 oz bottle sweet and spicy bbq sauce
1/2 cup light brown sugar, packed
3 Tbsp white vinegar
2 Tbsp minced garlic
2 Tbsp honey
1/2 tsp kosher salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
8 oz light beer
pinch of cayenne pepper
Place the little smokies sausages in a slow cooker. Add all remaining ingredients and stir to combine well.
Cook on HIGH for 2-3 hours or LOW for 4–4 ½ hours, or until the sausages are warmed through.
3 Honey Sriracha Saucy Smokies
You’ll Need:
2 (14 oz) packages Little Smokies Sausages
1 (10 ounce) Jar Pepper Jelly
2 cloves Garlic – minced
1 Cup Ketchup
¼ Cup Soy Sauce
¼ Cup Brown Sugar
3 TBS Honey
2-3 TBS Sriracha
1 tsp Sesame Oil
In the bowl of a crockpot or slow cooker, whisk together the pepper jelly, garlic, ketchup, soy sauce, brown sugar, honey, Sriracha sauce, and sesame oil. Add in the sausages and stir to combine.
Cook on HIGH for 2 – 3 hours or LOW for 4 – 4 ½ hours, or until the sausages are warmed through.
4 Mom’s Saucy Smokies
2 (14 oz) packages Little Smokies Sausages
2/3 cup Ketchup
1/4 cup Mustard
1 Tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
1/4 cup Brown Sugar
1/2 tsp Garlic Powder
1/2 tsp Onion Powder
1 Tbsp Corn Starch
2 Tbsp Water
In a medium-sized saucepan, whisk ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, water, and cornstarch together. Add sausages and stir to coat sausages with sauce. Bring to a boil. Reduce the burner to low and simmer for 20 minutes or until sauce is thickened.
Alternatively, the sauce ingredients can be combined in a bowl, mixed well and poured over the sausages in the crockpot/slowcooker. Heat 2-4 hours on low.
5 Sweet and Sour Smokies
You’ll Need:
1 Jar of Grape Jelly
1 bottle Chili Sauce
2 (14 oz) packages Little Smokies Sausages
Combine all of the ingredients in a slow cooker or large saucepan. Stir well to mix. Heat 2-4 hours on low in slow-cooker or simmer on stovetop 10-12 minutes until sausages are heated throughout and sauce is bubbly.
6Secret Ingredient Sweet & Sour Smokies
No one will believe you used cranberry sauce to make these delicious sweet & sour smokies!
You’ll Need:
1 can Jellied or Whole Berry Cranberry Sauce
1 bottle Chili Sauce
2 (14 oz) packages Little Smokies Sausages
Combine all of the ingredients in a slow cooker or large saucepan. Stir well to mix. Heat 2-4 hours on low in slow-cooker or simmer on stove top 10-12 minutes until sausages are heated throughout and sauce is bubbly.
7 Whiskey Smokies
You’ll Need:
1 cup catsup
2 pkgs Smokies Sausages (kielbasa)
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup whiskey
Combine all of the ingredients in a slow cooker or large saucepan. Stir well to mix. Heat 2-4 hours on low in slow-cooker or simmer on stove top 10-12 minutes until sausages are heated throughout and sauce is bubbly.
