NOTE: Here are some things to keep in mind when using a salt blended seasoning mix:
- Salt draws moisture out of food, which allows the foods to draw in flavorful moisture (brines, marinades, cooking rubs, etc.) while it is cooking. This is how pickles taste like pickles, not cucumbers, on the inside.
- Leaving meats sitting for long periods of time (time varies, but generally 12 – 24+ hours) with a salt rub on them will actually cause a chemical “cooking” process. This can cause meats to be dry, tough, and cook faster than expected.
- Salt blends will season your food, but they do not make them salty. You do not need to add extra salt when cooking with a salt blend.
- Keep your salt blend away from heat and direct sunlight to protect the flavors and integrity of the product.
these would make a nice gift or an addiion to a cooking gift basket. thanks!
Good point fosterfamily5! I would love to get a basket full of the mixes, rubs, etc.
on this site, wouldn’t you?:cloud9:
btw, these are killer on steamed veggies! doesn’t matter which salt blend – just pick the one that compliments the rest of your meal. it doesn’t matter if your meal doesn’t carry the same theme – you can pretty much pair the blend by the herbs and spices it contains.
These herbed salt blends are such a fantastic way to elevate any dish! 🌿🧂 I love how versatile they are—you can sprinkle them on roasted veggies, grilled meats, or even use them as a finishing touch for soups and salads. 🍲🥗 Plus, they make such thoughtful, homemade gifts for food lovers! 🎁🌱 Definitely trying the rosemary and garlic combo first!
