Calling all Garlic lovers! Not every loves those wonderful little cloves that are just bursting with flavor. For those of you that do, don’t you agree that garlic bread should taste like garlic? It should also have lots and lots of real garlic in it. Here’s a simple garlic bread that will blow your mind, and your taste buds away.
You’ll need:
1 loaf bakery fresh French bread
1 whole head of garlic (yes, a whole head)
1 cup of butter (real butter)
A drizzle of olive oil
Some of the most mouthwatering recipes have the simplest list of ingredients and are easy to prepare…
Start by cracking open the whole head of garlic and get to mincing. A good smack with the flat side of a wide knife will pop those peels right off. Mince the entire head.
If you love the flavor of fresh garlic but not the actual pieces you can use a micro plane to grate the garlic, just be sure to be careful of your fingers and grate it directly over the saucepan. Melt the cup of butter on low heat and add all your garlic.
Keep on low until the garlic softens. It will only take about 5 minutes, maybe less. Turn off the heat.
Slice your French bread loaf lengthwise and place on a cookie sheet.
Heat the oven to 400. Drizzle the cut bread with a little olive oil and bake for 8-10 min or just until it starts to brown. Alternatively, you can but the bread on your grill and cook just so you have pretty grill marks.
Take the bread out and spoon the garlic and butter on to each loaf. Be sure to spread out the garlic nice and even.
If you have kids who may not like the pieces of garlic, spoon just the butter on half and save the garlic for those of us who really enjoy it. Put the bread back in the oven and broil for 2 min. slice and serve.
