Whipped cream cheese is much lighter than traditional cream cheese, but you can achieve the same effect by whipping it yourself with a hand or stand mixer. The salami that we’re using for this recipe is thin hard deli salami slices.
Stuffed Salami dip
You’ll need:
1 12 ounce tub of whipped cream cheese
5-12 Pepperoncini Peppers
1 package of thinly sliced hard salami, about 8-10 ounces
Put cream cheese in a large bowl to soften while you cut everything else.
Stack and cut half the package of salami into small pieces.
Pierce Pepperoncini over a bowl, so the juice goes in, then return to the cutting board to remove the stem and seeds. Dice Pepperoncini and add to bowl.
A fork works best for mixing the dip. Depending on the size tub of whipped cream cheese you use, you will need to add more salami, and depending on how spicy you like it you may want to add more Pepperoncini.
The juice from the peppers adds flavor as well as makes it easier to mix. If you prefer, you can use jalapeno peppers instead of Pepperoncini.
Fortunately, at this point, you must taste test. It’s the only way to decide if you need more peppers or more salami. Serve with your favorite crackers.
I have found that starting with the large tub of whipped cream cheese instead of the small one helps there to be actually some to serve at the event. It’s sooo good! this can be made in advance and stored in the refrigerator, but you may want to hide it in the back, or you won’t have any to serve.
