With the cost of baby food skyrocketing, frugal parents feel sticker shock from paying $1 per serving of jarred food. Touted to be full of just the right things for a baby, nothing is a pure and healthy as fresh ingredients. Wanting to find a healthier and cheaper option for my baby, I started to create my own recipes. Here are some simple and cost effective recipes for your little one.

NOTE: As your baby learns to chew and is ready for bigger chunks, don’t blend the food. Leave in small soft chunks that are age-appropriate. To create a thinner consistency, add milk (formula, breastmilk, or supplement of choice). For a thicker consistency add plain yogurt. Always check with your pediatrician on when to start solids foods and/or new ingredients to your baby’s diet.
