Love the idea of having instant alcoholic frozen Daiquiris, Margaritas, and Pina Coladas? We do too. You might’ve seen those delicious Dailys frozen cocktails, but they can be hard to find! Which is why we came up with a slightly more potent version.
Here’s a simple do it yourself recipe for all of those delicious mixed drinks- except these will fill your red Solo cups to the top!
Perfect for Parties
These frozen cocktails are great for parties, camping, fishing, BBQ bashes or just sitting poolside in the summertime. Strawberry mixer is frequently on sale around Memorial Day, 4th of July, and Labor Day.
If you prefer, you can use fresh crushed strawberries with 1 tablespoon sugar mixed in. The mixer happens to be cheaper in our area than fresh strawberries currently, so we’re opting to use that instead.
We prefer these for several reasons- #1- They’re 1/3 of the price to make at home. #2- you don’t need 2 of them to fill a Red Solo Cup, #3- You have control over how “sweet” you want them to be.
Fun Fact
The Solo cup company was in bankruptcy proceedings when Toby Keith released his (famous!) song, Red Solo Cup. Toby’s song launched it out of bankruptcy and back into the spotlight, single-handedly saving the company. Later that same year the Solo cup brand sold out to another cup manufacturer for a little over a Billion dollars.
Copycat Dailys Frozen Cocktails
Strawberry Daiquiris:
2 oz Rum
4 oz Strawberry Mixer
1 Red Solo Cup Full to the top with Ice Cubes
Frozen Margarita’s
2 oz Tequila
4 oz. Margarita Mix
1 Red Solo Cup filled to the top with Ice Cubes
Pina Colada’s
2 oz Rum
4 oz Pina Colada Mix
1 Red Solo Cup filled to the top with Ice Cubes
Fuzzy Navels
2 oz Peach Schnapps
6 oz OJ
1 Solo Cup Filled to the top with Ice Cubes
Combine in a blender until smooth, pour into a Ziploc freezer bag or into a vacuum seal bag and seal careful (without vacuuming the liquid up.
Freeze the vacuum sealed bags until you’re ready to enjoy them.
To Enjoy: Remove from freezer, place on the counter for 3-4 minutes, palpate the bag for a minute or so and then pour into a solo cup.
Just a note, this does NOT work well for “virgin” drinks because it will freeze solid, rather than remain “slushy” as the alcohol in the drink is what prevents them from freezing. Your “virgin” frozen drinks will be misshapen virgin popsicles.
When serving daiquiri’s you can rub a fresh lime wedge or a strawberry on the rim and dip it into sugar before pouring the drink into it.
Pineapple Margaritas
1 cup lime juice, about 10 limes
White tequila, 1 cup
Triple Sec, 1 cup
fresh pineapple juice, 1 1/4 cups
Combine all the ingredients until combined. Then, fill a Solo cup with ice, fill 2/3 margarita mixture, blend, freeze as directed, makes 4 (Solo-cup sized) margaritas.
Don’t forget to salt the rim for margaritas too!
So, before heading out to your next bbq bash gathering with your friends, mix up a few of these delicious “grab & go” frozen cocktails. The possibilities are endless, have fun with it!
:celebrate1: I dont know I never think of these things myself. I bought some mixers a couple months ago when they were on sale for $1 a bottle. I don’t like how sweet they are on there own so we usually add fresh fruit or use less of the mixer to alter the sweetness.
I also dont care for the super sweet syrup-like texture of the store bought frozen drinks so I think this one will be a hit at our next bbq too.
awesome! have not had the pleasure of making my ownso this will be a ttotal hit!!
If you use a vacuum seal bag, squeeze out as much air as possible, then freeze. After all liquid is frozen then use the vacuum sealer…
These look awesome! I’d like to add my wife’s favorite, Talenti Frozen Sangrias.
2 pints Talenti Sorbetto (Blood Orange and Roman Raspberry)
1/2 lime, juiced
1/2 bottle of cabernet sauvignon or other dry red wine
1/4 cup mixed berries (optional)
Blend them all in your blender until they’re smooth then divide into the bags as directed in the recipe above. It’s great eye-candy in a glass too!
Here’s how to make Frosty Watermelon Margaritas too
3 cups watermelon, cubed and frozen
1 ripe banana, peeled and frozen
2 tablespoons agave nectar or maple syrup
Zest from 2 limes
Juice from 2 limes (about 4 tablespoons)
1/2 cup water
4 shots of Silver Tequila
1 shot Triple Sec
Blend together.
Question… Using one dailys premade mix which is 10oz, what do I do to make it fill up a 14oz cup without making it seem like there’s no alcohol? And I can’t add any more alcohol to it either!!!
If you’re using a Daily’s and want to make it fill the glass you could add reusable ice cubes (the kind you rinse off and refreeze). This will bulk up your drink, fill your cup without watering it down.
