Perhaps you can tell from some my other recipes, (candy apple bites) I prefer to make smaller desserts. It’s been my experience that when a number of different desserts are presented, one generally desires to try a little bit of each. Here is my favorite way of presenting multiple desserts, in cream pie bites.
You’ll Need:
- Various Flavors of Cream Pie Filling:
- Chocolate Cream Pie– this is when freezing 1/3 of the recipe comes in handy
- Banana Cream Pie– this is when freezing 1/3 of the recipe comes in handy
- Coconut Cream Pie this is when freezing 1/3 of the recipe comes in handy
- Phyllo dough or Pie Crust
- mini-tart pan
Prepare your mini tarts, using either phyllo dough or your favorite pie crust. If you don’t want to mess with making a pie crust, use a rolled pie crust from the refrigerated section of your favorite grocery store.
Bake them, in this photo we’ve used phyllo pastry.
To make Tropical Cream Pie Bites– add a single slice of banana to the bottom of each shell.
Add a spoonful of Banana Cream Pie filling or Coconut Cream pie filling.
Add a dollop of Whipped Cream, garnish with a fresh slice of banana or pineapple.
These can be made in a variety of flavors:
- Chocolate Cream with Fresh Strawberries
- Chocolate cream with fresh Cherries
- Coconut Cream Pie
- Tropical Bites- coconut cream with pineapple
- Homemade Applesauce with Whipped Cream
If you’re really in a hurry, you could prepare these using **gasp** instant Pudding!
these sound delicious. i too love mini desserts. i made mini cheesecakes for thanksgiving in a neat mini cheesecake pan.
the flavors i made are pumpkin with gingersnap crust, plain with a graham crust and black forest with chocolate crusts. i will be making these over the holidays.
How do you make black forest? Sounds wonderful !
i wonder if you could use cupcake tins for these if you did not have a tart pan?
We didn’t use a tart pan, we used a mini-muffin pan.
