You’ll Need:

1 teaspoons salt
3/4 tsp sugar
1/4 teaspoon dry mustard
dash ground red pepper
dash pepper

1/4 cup crumbled blue cheese
1/4 c. vinegar
1 c. salad oil

Combine all ingredients in small cruet bottle. Let set at least 30 minutes prior to serving.

This make-ahead pantry mix creates a tangy blue cheese vinaigrette with a bold, savory bite for salads, fruit-topped greens, and wedge salads. One batch makes about 1 1/2 cups dressing, or 12 servings at 2 tablespoons each, with an estimated total cost of $3.35, or about $0.28 per serving.

Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ¾ teaspoon sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon dry mustard
  • Dash ground red pepper
  • Dash pepper
  • ¼ cup crumbled blue cheese

Instructions

  1. Combine the salt, sugar, dry mustard, ground red pepper, and pepper in a small zip-top bag or airtight jar.
  2. Seal and shake to mix evenly.
  3. To prepare the dressing, add 1 package mix, 1/4 cup crumbled blue cheese, 1/4 cup vinegar, and 1 cup salad oil to a small cruet bottle or jar.
  4. Shake until combined.
  5. Let stand at least 30 minutes before serving.
  6. Shake again just before serving.
