How to Make Crab Stuffed Mushrooms

Having grown up in New England, I have a strong affinity for anything containing seafood. Unfortunately, seafood has a tendency to be rather pricey. Luckily canned crab meat can be found throughout the year at reasonable prices.

Obviously, fresh crab will add considerably more flavor to your recipe and if you happen to live near a shop that sells seafood you can actually purchase lobster bodies rather cheaply (as little as 25¢ each!). Adding a bit of lobster meat from the bodies or legs (not claws), makes these delicious stuffed mushrooms even more decadent.

However, even if you’re using a can of crabmeat, these offer amazing buttery rich flavor. Here’s our favorite, relatively inexpensive savory crab stuffed mushroom recipe you’re sure to love!

Easy Crab Stuffed Mushrooms

You’ll Need:
6-9 Large Mushrooms
3 slices Swiss Cheese
2 T. Parmesan Cheese
1/2 Sleeve Ritz Crackers, Crushed
1/2 stick Butter
2 -3 T. Crab meat (I used canned)
3 T. Chopped Red Onion
1/2 tsp Old Bay Seasoning
1 tsp minced garlic

Preheat the oven 350F
Wash the mushrooms, then carefully remove the stems, hollowing out the center of each mushroom.

Chop the stems finely, set aside. Chop the onion finely, set aside

Melt the butter in a medium saucepan.

Saute the chopped onions & mushroom stems in the butter until softened. (The onions will be translucent.) Add the Crab, saute 30 seconds. Add minced garlic and old bay seasoning.

Add 1/2 sleeve crushed ritz crackers, saute about a minute. Add 1 sliced swiss cheese (Finely chopped) & parmesan cheese.

Stuff the mushrooms

Add a small piece of sliced swiss cheese to the top of each mushroom.

*Optional Step*
Drizzle 2 T. Butter Melted with 1/4 tsp minced garlic over the mushrooms before baking. This step is optional, but very delicious!!

Bake at 350 for 6-10 minutes (until the cheese is melted and bubbly).

  • 2 -3 T. Crabmeat (I used canned) .65 ($1.96 can/ recipe uses 1/3 can)
  • 3 T. Chopped Red Onion .25
  • 1/2 tsp Old Bay Seasoning .10
  • 1 tsp minced garlic .03 ( I purchase Large 2# containers of minced garlic & keep it on hand: $4.50/181 servings)============================
