Pour The following in the bottom of your bread machine pan:
1 1/8 cups Water
Add 1 Jar Mix
Pour yeast package on top.
Set through Dough cycle of your machine, remove the dough when completed. Pull off 2 small pieces of dough (about 1/4″). (These are for testing your water).
On a floured countertop divide the dough into 8 balls. Push your thumb through the middle and shape your bagel. Allow bagels to rise (covered with clean cloth to prevent drying out) until double. In the meantime bring 3-4 qts of water to a boil. Add 1 Tablespoon of Sugar to the boiling water, stirring well.
Test the readiness of the dough by dropping one of your little Dough balls into the water, if the dough pops right back up to the top, they’re ready, if not, wait a few minutes and try again.
You can usually fit 2 – 3 bagels per pan. Boil them for 1 1/2 minutes per side, turning carefully. Remove them and transfer to wire rack. Baste the tops with the following mix
1 beaten egg
2 T. water
Bake in 400 F oven for 12-15 minutes on greased cookie sheet
Probably a really dumb question but…
When it says 3 1/3 tablespoons does that mean doing 1/3 tablespoons 3 times or is it 3 tablespoons then 1/3
Sorry my computer is showing it really weird and just want to confirm.
Thank you!!!
