This works great as a super fast, dirt cheap marinara sauce recipe and doubles as a great pizza sauce recipe as well.
You’ll Need:
1 can tomato paste
1 Tbs Italian seasoning
1 clove garlic (or more, depending on your taste), minced
1 Tbs (olive) oil
2 c boiling water
1/2 diced tomato (*Optional, if you have it for heartiness)
This one is very quick and easy to prepare. First, Heat the oil, and sauté the garlic BRIEFLY. Add all of the remaining ingredients and bring it to a boil, immediately reduce heat and simmer 5-7 minutes.
If you have the chance, refrigerate this for a day or 2 for best flavor.

can you tell me how big the can of tomato paste should be? tomato paste tends to come in very small cans since most recipes only need about a tablespoon of it at a time, but i have also seen larger cans, and it makes a big difference in the recipe.
The small cans your referring too are the ones that would be used in this recipe.
Just made some Cheesy Italian Mini Muffins and this sounds like a great dip for them! Can’t wait to try it.
I tried this recipe, but I found it quite sweet for my liking. It didn’t have as much spice as I’m used to either. Next time I’m going to try tomato sauce and see if that helps.
Thanks! This marinara sauce is fast and very tasty. I do highly recommend adding the diced tomato, in fact, I used an entire diced tomato, rather than half. It really added a burst of flavor. I also added a bit of chopped fresh oregano mainly because my garden is overflowing with it. Printing this recipe and adding it to my home cookbook so I can find it again with ease.
