Make your own, inexpensive Homemade Instant Stuffing Mix to have on hand for the holidays!
Now, the unseasoned bread cubes can be made easily by simply stacking several slices of bread, then cut them into small cubes. Place these on a cookie sheet and bake at 200F for a few minutes until they are crispy/dry.
You’ll Need:
3-1/2 cups unseasoned dried bread cubes
3 tablespoons dried celery flakes
1 tablespoon dried parsley flakes
2 teaspoons dried minced onion
2 teaspoons chicken bouillon granules
1/4 teaspoon poultry seasoning
1/4 teaspoon sage
1/2 tsp pepper
1/2 tsp Thyme
1/2 tsp Salt (optional, as bouillon is salty!)
Measure all ingredients into a Ziploc bag or into a jar, seal. (Makes 1 Jar of Mix)
Instructions to attach to jar:
Bring the following items to boil:
1 cup water
2 tablespoons butter or margarine
Add jar of stuffing mix, reduce heat and simmer, covered, for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Toss with a fork before serving.
Variations:
- Add 1/2 lb browned, crumbled sausage (add in during cooking)
- Add 1/2 c. finely diced, peeled apples (add in during cooking)
- Add 1/4 c. Dried Cranberries & and an additional 1/4 c. water to cooking

Love the recipe and it’s so easy to make.
Have made this several times already, never any leftovers!! Better than store bought box stuffing. Thanks.
i like to use stuffing a few times a month usually. i like to try and cook a whole chicken every week and use that with the leftovers! looks yummy!
this will be a real money saver for me. i like to use stuffing as a replacement for potatoes or pasta once in a while, probably twice a month. its great in a casserole as well.
i love stuffing! so i am definitely going to try this!
