You’ll Need:

  • 3 C. dried cherries
  • 3 1/2 C. boiling water
  • 1/4 C. flour
  • 1 C. sugar
  • 1 tsp. Almond Extract

Cover cherries with boiling water, cover and let soak for 30 minutes. Turn burner on medium, simmer and add sugar and flour to thicken. Remove from heat, add almond extract. Pour into prepared pie crust and add top crust. Bake at 400 degrees for about 35 minutes.

  1. Yea great pie quick and delicious but very dry. The second time I used 3 and3/4 cups of water and got a little thick syrup mixed with the cherries.

  2. This is a great recipe but I did add a half cup more water, decreased the flour to half, and omitted the almond extract a added a tablespoon of lemon juice instead. It was delicious and moist.

    I am excited to try this. I am going to use corn starch, increase liquid by half cup ( am thinking of using pineapple juice and maraschino cherry juice instead of water) and substituting lemon juice for almond extract. Wish me luck!
