This simple hot creole seasoning mix recipe is perfect for making grilled or roasted creole chicken. It doesn’t end there though, use it to spice up roasted root vegetables, rice dishes, meats, soups, stews, and more.
To increase the heat and intensity of this seasoning mix, choose hotter paprika when you prepare it.
Hot Creole Seasoning Mix
You’ll Need:
1/2 cup salt
1/4 cup paprika plus 1 1/2 tablespoons paprika
1/4 cup white pepper
1/4 cup garlic powder
1/4 cup onion powder
3 tablespoons red pepper
2 tablespoons dried whole oregano
2 tablespoons dried whole thyme
1 tablespoon pepper
1 teaspoon ground bay leaves.
Directions
Measure and combine all of the spices in a Ziploc or vacuum seal bag or jar, seal, and shake well to combine.
If you prefer to use this blend as a dry rub, grind the spices in a spice grinder until a semi-fine powder, then place them in container, seal and shake well to completely combine before using. Be sure to always thoroughly stir spice blends before using them as they tend to settle.
How to Use Hot Creole Seasoning Mix
Apply the creole seasoning as a dry rub to your favorite meats or seafood and cook as you usually would. Adjust the amount of seasoning to suit your spice preferences.
For roasting or grilling vegetables, lightly coat the cut vegetables with a tablespoon of olive oil. Sprinkle with a tablespoon or two of hot creole seasoning mix, stirring to coat them evenly, then roast or grill until tender.
