That turned into 25 years of recipes, debt-busting strategies, and DIY content — including figuring out how to make 128 loads of laundry detergent for less than $2. Millions of families have quietly used this site to stretch a dollar without feeling like they're sacrificing anything. 1. I love all these ideas, thank you! I thought I’d share a bunch of last minute halloween costume ideas too.

    Cereal Killer 🥣🔪
How to Make: Grab a few mini cereal boxes, stick plastic knives through them, and splatter red paint or marker for "blood." Attach them to a t-shirt.
Bonus Tip: Add a spoon in your pocket for extra effect!

    Scarecrow 🌾🧑‍🌾
How to Make: Wear a flannel shirt, jeans, and a straw hat. Use face paint to create stitched "scarecrow" lines on your face. Stuff some straw (or use strips of paper) in your pockets or sleeves.
Quick Addition: A rope belt completes the look!

    Mummy 🧻🧟
How to Make: Wrap yourself in toilet paper or white bandages. Start from the legs and work your way up, leaving spaces for your eyes.
Pro Tip: Use medical gauze for a more durable look.

    Ghost 👻
How to Make: Classic and easy—cut eye holes in an old white sheet, and you’ve got a ghost costume!
Alternative: Use fabric glue to add some black felt for a spookier face.

    Tourist 🏖️📸
How to Make: Wear a Hawaiian shirt, shorts, sunglasses, and a floppy hat. Carry a camera or map, and wear socks with sandals for that true tourist vibe.
Bonus: Add a lei or fanny pack for authenticity!

    Zombie 🧟‍♂️🧟‍♀️
How to Make: Rip an old shirt and pants. Use makeup or face paint to add pale skin, dark under-eye circles, and some fake blood.
Pro Tip: Smudge dirt or eyeshadow for an extra "freshly risen" look.

    Rosie the Riveter 💪
How to Make: Wear a denim shirt and tie a red bandana around your hair. Add rolled-up sleeves and red lipstick.
Quick Add: Strike a power pose to channel that strong, iconic look.

    Cat Burglar 🐱🧤
How to Make: Dress in all black, add a black beanie, gloves, and a mask (you can DIY one with felt or a cut-up t-shirt). Don’t forget the sack with a dollar sign on it!
Easy Addition: Use eyeliner to draw a black cat nose and whiskers.

    Minion 😆🍌
How to Make: Wear a yellow shirt and overalls. Add some goggles (made from plastic cups or lids) and black gloves.
Tip: A yellow beanie or headband will complete the minion look.

    Jellyfish 🪼
How to Make: Use a clear umbrella and attach long strands of ribbon, tulle, or string underneath to mimic tentacles.
Glow Up: Attach some glow sticks for a fun, glowing effect!

    Social Media Post 🖼️📱
How to Make: Use a large cardboard frame and paint it to look like a social media profile. Customize with likes, comments, and photos!
Pro Tip: Carry a marker and let your friends "comment" on your frame.

    Smarty Pants 🍬👖
How to Make: Attach packs of Smarties candy to a pair of pants using tape or safety pins.
Pun Fun: Walk around proudly as the ultimate "smarty pants!"

    Where’s Waldo? 🔎👓
How to Make: Wear a red-and-white striped shirt, a matching beanie, and glasses. Add jeans and a backpack for the complete look.
Bonus Tip: Hide in the background of photos for that authentic Waldo feel!

    Static Cling 🧦⚡
How to Make: Wear mismatched clothes and pin socks, dryer sheets, and small clothing items to yourself.
Super Easy: A balloon rubbed on your head creates real static for your hair!

    Artist 🎨🖌️
How to Make: Wear a beret and carry a paint palette and brush. Splatter some paint on an apron or shirt.
Extra: Add a mustache or glasses for that iconic “artist” look.

Quick Add-On: Write “Under Construction” on a cardboard sign for extra fun.

    50s Sock Hopper 🎶🧦
How to Make: Wear a poodle skirt, a scarf tied around your neck, and saddle shoes. Slick your hair back or wear a high ponytail.
Classic Look: Add cat-eye glasses for that vintage 50s style.

    Witch 🧙‍♀️🎃
How to Make: Wear all black with a pointy hat (which you can make from cardboard). Add a broomstick and dark lipstick.
Pro Tip: A DIY broomstick can be made from sticks tied together with string.

    Rain Cloud ☁️🌧️
How to Make: Dress in light blue or gray, and glue cotton batting to a shirt or headband. Attach paper raindrops or strips of blue ribbon to hang down.
Fun Detail: Add some glitter or silver streamers for a shiny, rainy effect.
