While the origin of National Pina Colada day isn’t known, the term “Pina Colada” means “strained pineapple”, in Spanish. It is rumored that Pina Coladas originated in San Juan, Puerto Rico where a traditional Pina Colada consists of strained pineapple juice, light rum and coconut cream mixed together and poured over crushed ice.
