Beetlejuice Costume Idea

The 1980’s horror comedy movie Beetlejuice has become a cult classic, to such an extent that the title character has become a popular costume choice for Halloween. Making a Beetlejuice costume for the occasion is fairly simple and can be done cheaply. To make it, you will need the following:

  • 1 suit (black/white)
  • Spray paint (black/white)
  • 1 blond wig
  • White face paint
  • Black face paint
  • 1 black tie
  • 1 pair of black shoes
  • 1 pair of black socks
  • Masking tape
  • Dirt

First, use masking tape on the suit for stripes. The stripes on the arms should be horizontal, while those on the torso should be vertical.

Spray the suit with the appropriately colored paint (i.e. if the suit is black, use white paint; if white, use black paint). Take off the tape and you have the suit.

The suit and shirt that you wear should be a little dirty, like the characters is. Wear these with black socks and shoes, along with a black tie. As to make up, wear white on your face, with black around the eyes.

To complete one of the most popular of 80’s costume ideas, you need an unkempt blond wig. And that’s it, it’s showtime!

Melissa "Liss" Burnell started Budget101.com in 2001 because she needed it to exist — not because she saw a market opportunity. She was feeding a family of four on under $200 a month, and people kept asking how, so she started writing everything down.

That turned into 25 years of recipes, debt-busting strategies, and DIY content — including figuring out how to make 128 loads of laundry detergent for less than $2. Millions of families have quietly used this site to stretch a dollar without feeling like they're sacrificing anything.
