Essential oils have been an essential part of my family’s life for more than 20 years. We use them for everything, cleaning, homemade beauty and skin care products, and to solve health issues quickly. Having such a deep appreciation for quality oils that I can count on, I recently signed up to take advantage of big time savings, 24%! If you’re interested in purchasing quality essential oils that you can count on, allow me to explain the two options that are available.
Customer vs Distributor
A customer is when you buy an oil at regular retail price. You simply visit the young living site, choose an oil that you want and purchase it like any other site.
An Independent Distributor is a customer that purchases oils at Wholesale Price (24% savings per oil). There are no fees to become a distributor, but in order to keep your account active, you will need to meet the $50/year purchase requirement.
An Independent Distributor as Business– is a customer that purchases oils at wholesale prices, but intends to also make additional income being a distributor
As a Customer– This type of membership is completely free to join.

This type of membership allows you to easily order the oils and products that you need at retail pricing, plus tax & shipping, it’s basically like purchasing from your own private store any time you want something.
As an Independent Distributor (advanced Customer)
This membership requires a one-time purchase of a starter kit, which range in price from $45- $260 (your choice). I bought the Premium Starter Kit, which comes with a diffuser (I love mine!) and includes eleven different bottles of oil to get you started, a roll-on attachment, 10 samples packets of various oils, 10 sample bottles (these are so handy to mix your own blends), and materials to help you become familiar with oils and the various ways to use them.

If you want to continue as an wholesale member, you will need to make a minimum purchase of $50 per year, which is very simple to do if you love the oils as much as I do!
An Independent Distributor (As a Business)
This is essentially the same thing as a distributor (above) but the intent with this one is to make an income! If you wish to earn a commission check by sharing the oils with friends and family, you must also be enrolled in the Essential Rewards program. To be eligible to receive a payment, your monthly essential rewards order should be a minimum of $100 per month. (They also offer many monthly specials where you can receive oils for free).
In addition to receiving a commission on your sales, you’ll also earn Essential Rewards points that you can redeem for free products.
As an Independent Distributor you’re already saving 24% on all of your orders, but by signing up with Essential Rewards, your savings over retail will be instantly deeper. These savings will grow based on how long you are in the program.
- 34% Total savings the first six months.
- 39% Total savings the next six months.
- 44% Total savings for the remainder of the time you remain in the program.

How to Become a Member:
Signing up as a member is a simple process but I have outlined the steps below, should you need them.
First – Click here to access the Member Signup Page.
Step 1 – Once on the page:
Be sure that “member” is selected. (Unless you do not want the 24% discount and would prefer to sign up as a customer.) Leave the Sponsor Information as is and then Hit “NEXT” at the bottom right of the page.
Fill out your personal information and check that you understand the Terms & Conditions. (This page does ask for your social. The reason it needs this is for legal tax purposes, because you have the ability to earn an income.)
Choose a username, password and PIN. Be sure to write these down somewhere safe! You will need them to log in and/or call Young Living’s member services.
Step 2 – Select Your Kit!
If you’d like to maximize your savings, select any “Premium Starter Kit”. These kits are the ones with the Premium Essential Oils Collection, diffuser, extras, and business starter kit. The other kits do not include the Premium Essential Oils Collection (10 oils). (This kit retails for over $300, but as a wholesale member you can get it for $150!)
If you’re not worried about the additional savings, select any kit that stands out to you.
Step 3 – Essential Rewards (Optional)
Essential Rewards (ER) is an optional discount program within Young Living. You can choose to sign up now, later, or not at all. By enrolling in ER, you will earn up to 20% back on purchases (starting at 10% and increasing as you stay in the program) as points, which can be redeemed for free oils.
If you would like to enroll in ER, you may choose a kit at this time.
If you would rather not enroll at this time (or you would, but would prefer to choose specific products, as opposed to a kit) you can simply select “No, thank you” and you may enroll at any time by logging into your Virtual Office.
Step 4 – Shipping and Billing
Enter your payment information and continue to complete your signup and purchase.
You will have an opportunity to double check all of your information, and this will be used when you make purchases moving forward. (You can change it at any time by logging into your Virtual Office.)
Click “Activate and Place Order” button, and you are done!
