Create your own homemade antiseptic ointment to have on hand for minor cuts and abrasions. This simple homemade ointment recipe is wonderful for stings, scratches, minor cuts and burns; it’s a wonderful addition to the medicine cabinet and can also be stored in the refrigerator for instant cooling relief when applied as well.
You’ll Need:
1 1/2 ounces beeswax, grated
1 cup almond or coconut oil
1/4 teaspoon vitamin E oil
1/2 teaspoon tea tree essential oil
20 dropslavender essential oil
10 drops lemon essential oil
Combine oil (almond or coconut) and beeswax in a small saucepan over very low heat.
Once they’ve completely melted, remove from heat and add the vitamin E oil and essential oils.
It is imperative that you use 100% Therapeutic grade Real Essential oils and NOT Fragrance oils.
Stir with a chopstick, shish kebab stick or the handle of a wooden spoon. Carefully pour mixture into small sterilized mason jars, ointment tubes or other sterilized container.
Cool completely. Store in cool, dark place. Use as needed. This ointment has a shelf life of about 5 years.
With kids around, this is a wonderful quick ointment to apply to help them cleaned up and back out the door to play.

wow i had no idea i could make ointment with my essential oils, this is fantabulous! thanks so much for sharing!
gonna try this out as soon as i can get all the ingredients. ummm…. where do i get the beeswax and the essential oils.
the only thing i can find is the fragrance oils and not the essential oils.
Any natural foods store such as whole foods, the Vitamin Shoppe, Trader Joes, etc will carry Real Essential oils. If all else fails you can order them online from amazon. I keep about 30 different essential oils on hand for various cleaning, cosmetic recipes, health care recipes etc.
The best supplier I have found for pure, therapeutic grade essential oils is Butterflyexpress.com (and believe me…I really did my research before ordering from Butterfly!)… they are not multilevel marketing, they sell only high quality oils, herbs and homeopathics, and have very reasonable prices.
this will help out big time as i am a clutz lol.
thank you for sharing. 🙂
whats the point of using lavender? just for scent or is it beneficial?
This is great! I didn’t know it was possible to make your own antiseptic ointment! I’ll be making this as soon as I can.
Guess I should start finding or purchasing containers soon!
