We went a little overboard with the gifts for February, March and April because we suddenly had a new found love for a great money saving gadget!
Please forgive us, we got a little behind in posting due spring planting, tax season and life in general. Here are the lucky recipients for February, March & April! In case you missed our post, we shared how we are able to stretch our produce and make it last throughout the week without having to worry about spoilage. You can learn more about that here. We were so excited about how wonderfully this gadget works, we felt inclined to send out a few of them to our members. After all, we want you to save money too!!

So, imagine how surprised I was to get a box from Amazon, with what I thought was the book I had ordered from the uk… to discover it was a gift from liss…

Yesterday I got a great surprise! It felt like Christmas used to feel like when the gifts I received were surprises (nowadays I buy my own gifts — no surprises). Thank you, Liss for the Food Saver!
It should come in handy when we are putting up our garden harvest. Thanks; Virginia
me too!!

thank you so much!!!!
WOW, that is a great gift. I hope you enjoy your food saver. I know I love mine.
oops! I posted mine in the first forum under General — sorry Liss — I have no idea how to move it over to this forum! (posted pictures too)
totally awesome present! I bet you are going to have fun playing with this one. I personally am thinking coke cans in a bag.
no coke cans in a bag… those babies are worth 10 cents each here!! (we go through pop faster than any other beverage — so we “return” about $10 a week in cans)
you return them to the recycling center? I have no idea how much they are here, but I do know you have to drive to the back of the landfill, empty your bags and you get ‘dinged’ if they are not crushed. the last time a friend went with a trunk full she made like 30.00.
I take any and all cans to the school and let them recycle them. they have an all in one dumpster. they take almost everything that is recyclable.
no — we don’t have recycling centers (at least none nearby) — we turn our cans in at our grocery stores… national brand beverage containers can be turned in anywhere, but store brand (like meijer pop, kroger pop, etc) have to be returned to the store that carries the brand. we can turn our cans in a party stores, gas stations, grocery stores, etc…
anywhere that sells beverages must take those empties back, required by law.
michigan (as well as ny, ct, ma, vt, me, hi, ia, or) is a deposit state — everyone pays 5 cents per can, and gets 5 cents per can returned except for michigan… we pay 10 cents deposit for cans and bottles (not all cans or bottles though!), and get 10 cents for each returned.
I wish they would do that here. I can remember when the glass bottles were returned. they paid for a good portion of the groceries.
What a nice feature! I think this will keep the forums alive. Thanks for this!
😀
I won a Foodsaver (handheld) and jar sealer. It works like a charm! Fresh spinach stays fresh.
Chopped peppers remain crisp. And celery keeps its crunch. Fabulous!
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
So glad to hear you are enjoying your FoodSaver! I love mine, I sometimes wonder what I ever did without it. It makes a HUGE difference on the food bill for us.
