Moving = Starting Fresh

I've always seen a move as a chance to start fresh in many ways.

For starters, I always clean everything to a shine before packing it, and I wrap dishes, etc in plastic before wrapping in paper so that they stay clean and neat. I love the SOOO clean feel and look of a new home, and I don't want anything of mine to be remotely unclean when I unpack it, so I maybe obsess over this aspect. Same with kids' toys: stuffed animals get washed, plastic, etc toys get soaked in a bleach solution as needed and dried before packing away. Furniture gets cleaned, too.

Then, there's ME. I always buy myself new clothes right before a move, and get my hair done, and maybe add something new. This time, I'm going to be piercing my nose. This is my first (besides one hole in each ear) body piercing, but I've wanted it for a while now. I am moving, so it feels like the perfect time to get it done. It's a mental out-with-the-old, in-with-the-new ritual that repeats itself in a different way each time I move.

I'm also changing my decorating style. Moving is the PERFECT time to do this. It won't happen in one fell swoop, but the plan is in action and I am starting to round things up for my new decor.

So there's my fresh start. New facial decorations, new house decorations, squeaky clean everything, and a bright outlook on our new life on the other side of the country.

    Sounds like you have a good plan. And hyping yourself for the big move. Nothing wrong with the old saying out with the old and in with the new..
