Frugal is IN

I have noticed that with the economy sinking the news is doing more and more stories of frugal ways to live. To many of us it probably seems like common sense, but I was reminded that it really isn't just the other day.

I was at the dentist and the hygenist (sorry about spelling folks, mine sucks) had seen an article I was in, in the local paper on family dinners. She told me how much she had learned from the article and was working on things being more frugal in her home. I told her that it really wasn't anything's just the way we do things around our home. She argued and said that it is and that she wants to learn all she can. She also said that it isn't common sense and that many people were never taught how to do these things.

I, of course, told her of this wonderful website And we went back to getting my smile white.

It was then that I realized...Frugal is IN...we are so in the know and I for one want to pass it around just as all of you, my freinds, share with me. You're all so cool!

It is "IN" even with some of the younger generation! I have noticed some young twenties asking more questions and wondering how to cook, sew a button on to save a dollar, how to use the coupons. It is great! Seriously when I went to college and graduated in 1995 with a degree in what use to be called "Home Ec" I did not see much of a future in the field of basic home living. Today it is in such demand!

Neat to here you were in an article!

So true, Kim. I find that a lot of the younger generation (although I would consider you one ) are asking so many questions and trying to learn basic skills. Its a shame they didn't learn them sooner.

I would have to agree with you Jamie, it does seem like when you turn the news on, they do start out with a frugal living story or when you pick up a magazine. If we are not taught at home and now some of the school don't teach Home Ec, where does the younger generation learn these skills.
I for one want to pass it around just as all of you,
And this is where all of us need to continue to help one another...

Yes it sure is all over the news these days. They talk about it daily. And I have noticed that alot of the young crowds have been asking alot of questions on how to do things. Their learning, that money really doesn't grow on trees.

I think it is a shame that they are letting basic skills slip out of the schools. My dd school does not offer it anymore...I have made it personal to be sure to teach her what she needs to would be nice if the community (schools) would show the kids how important it is as well.

I learned at a young age that not wasting really helps everyone around you (makes them happier*) So I got in the habit young~

    But I'm still learning ;3
