Sick computer???

Rate this Entry
If I should happen to disappear it is just my computer. I think something is terribly wrong with it. At one point, earlier, Internet Explorer started opening new windows. There were 70 some windows opened before I came out of shock and got it turned off. Normally I would call my son but it will be next August before I can do that and I don't have anyone else to ask. Does anyone know why it would do that or did I do something to cause it? I know next to nothing about computers. I bought this one new in April, 2008. Think I might need some help.

Janice, you most certainly have a virus, go to this site and run a free online virus scan.

Trend Micro HouseCall - Free Online Virus and Spyware Scan - Trend Micro USA
Click on the red link that says "Click here for free scan"

Also, if you switch to FireFox rather than IE, it has a LOT less loopholes allowing trojans to get into your computer while browsing a webpage. Change the security settings to automatically dump your temp internet files each day, or each time you close your browser.

Thanks FreebieQueen. I've tried out the free online virus scan. I'm trying this security system for a free 30 day trial. It seems to be working good. I had Norton before and my computer seemed to be getting slower and slower. Don't know if that had anything to do with it or not. Norton did a full scan about a week ago and found nothing. But like I said, I've had problems before. Hopefully it will be better now. Time will tell.

Hi, this problem is not a virus, or your computer, it is the internet itself. My computer, as well as, other persons that I know, have been having these problems. I don't think there is anything that you can do about it, till it decides to "right" itself. Just shut down computer in normal fashion, if that does not work, you will have to do a drastic shutdown, and just turn it off. So far this week,, I have not had any problems. It is maddening, lol.. and a bit frightening, but never fear, all will be good soon.

Oh and I forgot to tell you... if you do not have competent virus protection, you can go to avast! - Download antivirus software for spyware and virus protection and download FREE virus protection. This software is only for HOME use, and requires a key code to register it, after downloading and installing. You just go to the site again, and it will be sent to your email, open the email, and the key code is there. Go back to Avast icon in task bar, and register your software. This registration is valid for a full year. At the end of that year, you will be prompted to re-register, and again will be sent a key code. PS... I have used Norton, I do not care for it. It CONSUMES your memory. Hope this helps.
