I have heard that some areas throw them into nearby lakes and ponds to create habitat for fish and other water creatures. Sometimes they are shredded or chipped up into mulch as well. They are so sad to look at after the holidays. To me they look lonely and need a home!

Not sure about your area but in mine, they will mulch up the trees and use that for landscaping. Great way to recycle the trees that have been cut.

In my area they will recycle them using in mulch like Kim, said. There are some farmers that will come by and pick them up and use them on their farms. They will cut them up and use for out side fires. A few will toss some in their ponds too like livenactive has stated.

I hope that those who don't know what to do with their tree this year, will look into a better way of disposing of their tree this year.

I've really liked my artifical tree. I don't have to bother with who will be picking it up after the Holidays are over any more..
