Sylvan is going to be probably your most expensive option. Do you live near a college campus? You could check with the guidance department and see if any math majors are looking for employment as a tutor.

You could also check with the high school sometimes they have math clubs and like sharing and helping the younger students. College is a great option if one is near. Might also check with a teacher at the school-sometimes they are looking to make a little extra.

Absolutely ask around! My son runs the math lab on his campus and for two hours each afternoon he tutors free of charge anyone that comes in! The rest of the time he collects $10 an hour but the campus pays him for those 2 hours. I also have found lots of help from people at Church when my kids needed more help than I could give!

I remember my school had an area where you could go take tests and get help studying from a teacher. Also, when I needed anatomy help (cell work*) my teacher recommended a site for me to use to help study- and boy, did it ever help.
