Planning list for Thanksgiving Meal

I Found this list years ago and use it evey year...I Added and deleted some of the things. I made the list so that DH and I had a idea for the prep of our Thanksgiving meal. I would have to work part of the day on Thanksgiving so this worked for me. And DH would pitch in and help--so I had to have a list. Sometimes he would drive me crazy, but he was only trying to help.

Planning list for Thanksgiving Meal

1- Week Ahead--

Check your supply of serving platters, bowls, utensils, dishes, glasses, and napkins. Make a list of nonfood items to buy or borrow. Don’t forget candles, flowers, or decorations for your center piece.
Post your menu on the refrig. Next to each menu item, write down when each dish will be prepared.
Make your grocery and bev. shopping list. Check the ingredient lists of any new recipes you plan to use to be certain you will have everything you need.
Shop for everything except perishables.

4- Days Before--

If you have purchased a frozen turkey, you may need to begin thawing it in the refrigerator (a 20-pound bird can take four days to defrost).
Prepare certain dishes that will keep well, such as relishes and sweet potato or squash recipes.

2- Days Before--

Shop for remaining food items.
Make pie dough and refrigerate.
Clean the house.

Day or Night Before--

Set the table and bring out serving dishes and utensils.
Bake pumpkin pies and refrig.
Make cream pies and jello and refrig.
Peel potatoes, cut and put water on them and put in refrig.
Make fresh veggie platter and refrig.
Make stuffing and refrig.
CLean and refrig turkey.
Chill beverages.

The Big Day--

Roast the turkey.
Cook or bake any other dishes left on your list.
And the last step -- Enjoy-- Family and Friends

I wish I was this organized. I still don't have a clue what I am making. LMAO! I guess I will figure it out this weekend. If the hubby and I can stop fighting about what the main dish is going to be. Ohhhhh the love, we do this every Holiday

Thanks-Had to be this organized, used to work the meal between two homes. Would have dinner at my parents house. But make most of it at my home.. Then Dad decided to do the dinner/ with me bringing the desserts. But now the last 5 years it's DH & our sons here.

Very organized! I had to shake my head about thawing the turkey, so many people do not realize how long it actually takes the standard is 24 hours for each 5 pounds, I have seenmany ruin the meal because they forgot to thaw that turkey
