Updates and Such

Recently I received a Nook Tablet for my birthday. I think it was one of the best gifts I've ever gotten. I love using the free kindle book area for books. There's also a few free books I've found on my own accord. When travelling across a few states, I used it for reading to keep myself and my husband awake while driving. Though I was using my internet halfway, so we could read scary online stories. You can only handle so much Land of OZ books before it becomes too much! There's also so many "How to" books that I want to try. I actually loved it so much, I bought my husband one about 3 days after he bought it for me; I didn't want him to feel left out of the fun.

Update on the Porch Garden. We bought a few already started plants from the farmer's market, those are bearing fruit. We already dug up our radishes that we started from seedlings. They were ready to eat, but my husband would've waited probably until they were state fair sized to pick them. Tomatoes are starting to show themselves on the farmer's market plant, our seedling is starting to get to a beginning size. (We started a little late in the season). Banana pepper plant starting to show fruit as well. I'm rather excited. So we also bought pea seeds, they are more than 2 feet in growth. I'm trying to twist tie them to the rails of my balcony so they don't choke each other out, but I'm not sure if they're going to cooperate long term. Their swirling limbs are reaching for other plants more than the rails. 2 of them were planted next to each other in a styrofoam cooler we saved from our wedding day, probably won't repeat that.

So when we went out of state my husband and I went fishing. Bought a 24 hour license online and he had poles at his parent's home that we took back with us. When we went to Walmart to replenish a supply of leaders, we found it was FREE FISHING WEEKEND. Apparently the DNR website of that state had it on their page, but not without scrolling far below the "BUY A LICENSE" link. Whoops. Read everything next time I suppose. We didn't catch any fish until we came home and bought Year Long licenses and went to a little fishing pond a second time. We brought our catches home, cleaned and ate them. I've never caught my own food before, so it was a new experience.
