October is almost over and the leaves are such beautiful colors. As we scramble to get all of our must do outdoor work done before winter sets in it's nice to have some warmer days and beautiful colors. We are putting in 33 4' X 16' raised beds each year and need to get them in before winter sets in. We are doing this mainly for us but also we are doing subscriptions during the growing season to people who are willing to pay a set amount for whatever produce we can give them each week during the growing season. We must get them in before winter because part of our mix is rice hulls and they produce rice grass. Rice can't survive our winters so we make sure the new beds are in before winter so they are ready first thing in the Spring to plant.
I've been super busy at Church also. Most of the extra activities will be over this Saturday so I can start focusing on the Holidays. Got my family calendar to do and 5 memory lap quilts to knock out. I've been collecting mix in a jar gift ideas all year so most of my gifts will be gift baskets with mixes, ect. Like Apple muffin mix with a muffin tin and apron. Bean Soup mix and Cornbread mix with a ladle and soup bowls. Trying to keep things as simple as I can this year.
I keep having really bad feelings about how the near future is going to go. I really wish my house was paid off but need 4 more years to make that happen. All I can do is economize, prepare and pray. By next year I should be able to eliminate most of my grocery shopping.
But right now I've been lifting 40 to 65 lbs. constantly for 2 months and I'm ever so glad that next week we'll finally be done with the beds for this year!
