I have no choice! We're out of money and running out of traditional meals. Sooo...
*I took two sheets of graham crackers, a little marshmallow fluff from the bottom of the jar, and a sprinkle of semi-sweet chocolate chunks from a 1/2 bag of it and made two s'mores for myself as a snack this morning.
*For lunch yesterday, two skinny leftover carrots, 1/2 an onion from the fridge, 1/3 bag of frozen mixed veggies, 1/4 bag of frozen sliced bell peppers, one lone potato, 1/2 a bag of almost-too-late spinach, smidgens of cream cheese, cheddar, mozarella, and parmesan cheese, an egg and roughly 2 cups (the rest of the box) of Bisquick became fried veggie fritters, which we dipped in the one container of ranch veggie dip remaining in the fridge plus some ranch dressing.
*Pancakes from a mix were dinner, and I topped them with a bag of frozen strawberries (which I microwaved with a couple shakes of sugar).
*Two nights ago, the kids had hot dogs without buns dipped in ketchup, baked potatoes (getting soft) topped with the rest of the sour cream, some butter, and some Bacos, and fruit cups for dinner, while the hubs and I had smoked sausage, tater tots (only enough for one serving) and sweet potato fries (ditto). I fried some onions to go with the sausage and served mustard along side.
*A quick beer bread provided a starch for a lunch of soup and bread a few days back, and used up some beer my husband wasn't a fan of.
*A little bit of orange juice, some milk, ice and vanilla made the kids two heaping helpings of orange julius the other night.
*The last of the rice will be used up tonight in lentils and rice soft tacos. I don't have tortillas so I need to make some from scratch. This recipe will also use up the lettuce before it gets too old.
*Tomorrow's dinner is going to be peanut butter pasta -- kinda like pad thai.
Meals will be much like these until pay day -- the 1st. I have bratwurst and one pound of ground beef left for meat, a few eggs and some yogurt, some milk. A can of biscuits. A jar of peanut butter. An onion. Lots of instant mashed potatoes. I have three apples, bananas (which will be made into banana bread and one which will be made into a chocolate-covered frozen banana for a treat for the kids). I have 2 cans of black beans and a bag of yellow rice mix. I have ramen noodles. Lots of celery. Some broccoli. Some mixed veggies. A box of butternut squash. Macaroni noodles. Lasagna noodles. Yeast, flour, oil, sugar. Lentils. Green beans. Pancake mix. Oats. Flavored cream of wheat. Oat bran. Bouillon. 2 fruit cups, a couple can of soup, coffee, brown sugar, hot cocoa mix. Some cool whip. A cup of mozzarella cheese, some salsa, and a box of green giant veggies with sauce.
We have plenty of food -- it's just that I have to come up with some creative ways to use it. I can't buy anything to add in. No money till the 1st unless by some miracle my bank hurries up and deposits the checks we mailed them before then.
So if you have any ideas on what I can make please suggest them. I'd love to hear them!
