In the event that you need to go out and want to help protect yourself, a family member, or others in your community, here is a medical mask tutorial for creating your own medical safety masks.
If you don’t need a mask for yourself or your family, but you do like to sew, please consider making masks and donating them to first responders. This snug fitting mask is easily adjustable too!

You’ll want to use a very tightly woven cotton fabric, such as bed sheets or pillow cases. It’s best to use a blend that has been pre-shrunk. If you’re making these for home use, coffee filters will work as replaceable filters. Be sure to wash after each use.
Also, it helps to use a bracket to prevent the mask from literally resting on your face.

For Each Mask
You’ll need 3/4 of a Yard of Tightly Woven cotton fabric measuring 24″x28″
80/20 Batting
1/4″ elastic bands, cut at 15″ (2 of them)
20 Gauge Wire cut at 8″ length (or a paper clip, in a pinch!)
