Clear up acne outbreaks quickly using this simple yet effective inexpensive homemade acne clearing beauty mask treatment.

Make Your Own Acne-Clearing Aspirin Mask

Many DIY face masks are geared towards those with dry skin, or people who only want to improve skin that already behaves just fine, leaving acne sufferers feeling a bit left out. One great face mask for acne treatment uses aspirin to dry up pimples, improve ingrown hairs or blackheads, gently exfoliate away dead skin, and clear up redness.

Those are a lot of benefits for such a simple recipe! If you are allergic to aspirin, don’t attempt this, but anyone else with acne should definitely try out this aspirin face mask at home to help their skin look its best.

Ingredients

The first and most important ingredient is, of course, uncoated aspirin. It might be a bit harder to find uncoated brands, but coated aspirin takes a lot longer to form a paste and contains more inactive ingredients that you don’t need on your face.

You’ll need around four to seven tablets depending on how much of your face you want to cover. Use less if you only need or want to use the aspirin face mask as a spot treatment for pimples. It makes a very effective one! Aspirin has anti-inflammatory properties that help relieve skin irritation, and aspirin’s salicylic acid helps reduce pimples. The grainy texture of the aspirin tablets when dissolved in a homemade face mask is good for exfoliation as well.

You have many options when it comes to what else you would like to put in your aspirin face mask. Honey is a popular additive, since honey has antibacterial and moisturizing properties. Non-comedogenic oils that are safe for facial application can also be used to make the mask more moisturizing. Alternatively, tea tree oil can be added to help with bad cases of acne, or a few spoonfuls of yogurt to calm very irritated skin.

If you want to keep things really simple, you can also technically just use water!

Instructions

Use just enough water, preferably distilled water, to dissolve the aspirin tablets on a plate or in a cup until they form a grainy paste. You can adjust the consistency by adding more aspirin, or more water if needed. You can add other ingredients for extra moisture or acne treatment to the paste at this point if desired.

Apply the aspirin face mask to your face as a full mask or spot treatment and leave it on for around ten to twenty minutes before rinsing it off with warm water. You can also use it on other areas of the body experiencing acne issues. Use it up to three times a week for best results. Your skin will immediately look brighter and smoother!

Summertime Breakout? Try the Basil Treatment

Boil 1 cup distilled or spring water, add a heaping Tablespoon of dried basil, remove from heat, cover and let steep for about 10 minutes. Strain water into a glass container with a tight fitting lid. (A Mason jar or baby food jar would be great) Use a cotton ball to apply water to face morning and night. Keep in refrigerator. Keeps about 5 days.

Toothpaste, Not just for Teeth!

Try putting a dab of plain white toothpaste on your pimples before you go to bed and wash it off in the morning. It’ll dry those nasty things up in no time!

Date Night Tonight? Hiding a Pimple QUICK

You’re getting ready for a hot date, evening out or special occasion (like Prom!) and you look in the mirror only to discover a red blotch where a pimple is ready to make it’s hideous appearance. You’re convinced you it looks like a giant target on your face. Here’s a simple fix that will get you through the evening. Squeeze eye drops onto a cotton ball, generously, apply the soaked cotton ball to the affected area for at least 60 seconds. The redness will be reduced drastically and while you’ll still know it’s there, no one else will!
