My DH& I have been wanting a reading nook/quiet haven for our bedroom, and just maybe a bean bag'nest' for two would fit the bill. We need light weight, comfy, washable (I'm a notorious coffee slosher), affordable, and big enough for both of us, without it being a space hog. This is all of that, plus customizable for colors, patterns, even embroidery... Yup. I think this will work perfectly! Thank you!

I think I am going to make 4 of these (my neice & nephews) for Christmas gifts. They are always gathering pillows and plopping down here there and everywhere so I think they will like them.

I came here after a search for a bean bag chair pattern directed me here. I can see I will be here a lot in the near future! I have printed the pattern, drafted the pattern, bought all the appropriate materials. However, I can not find the diameter of the circle that is used on the top of the bean bag chair anywhere in the directions. I need to make two as gifts for Christmas and was hoping to start on them soon. Have everything ready to go but at a stand still until I get further info! Any help would be great. Thanks.

The answer to your question is located in paragraphs 3 for adult size chairs and 4 for kids size chairs.

I made bean bag chairs for the after school program at my grandsons school. They didn't want to have them made with the little peanuts so I stuffed them with plastic grocery bags before they started to recycle them. They lasted for long time.

Thanks for the bean bag chair tutorial! I want to make a couple for my kids' tree fort, which is open to the elements, so it needs to be able to withstand rain but not sun or snow. Any advice on materials and/or construction?

I am wondering how practical this is with the cost of material now. 5 yards of almost anything is going to be over $50. I am sure that I can get a beanbag chair for less.

What about using material around the house. I have recently lost a lot of weight and have many jeans that I can no longer wear. I was thinking of cutting them up, sewing them together and turning them into a bean bag.

I like the idea of using fabric on hand...think outside the box! Thrift stores are also a good source for material...you can buy either the cloth yardage or use comforters or anything large to re-purpose and make these with! I have been fortunate to buy large quantities of fabric lately...five yards for $1.25 the whole piece.

Hi! I want to make the adult chair, but I want one that is four feet in diameter. I am new to sewing so I can't tell how big around this chair winds up to be? Can you help? I know the average adult chair online is only three feet diameter.

Most stores have a sewing section or a JoAnn Fabric type store go to the closeout stuff and peek around. The Salvation army will have saving days go get some jeans and cut them up for a $1 each or anything you see that you think will work.

Did you ever get an answer? I'm trying to find out the finished dimensions of this pattern before I proceed. Thanks!
