Is your little one miserable because his or her teeth are coming in? Ear pulling, crying and general irritability are common in babies who are teething. Here’s a simple tried and true old-timey teething gel remedy that you can whip up in a few seconds to alleviate discomfort.

There are several ways to help alleviate the discomfort of teething. When my own kids were little we found that frozen knotted washcloths made great teething relief chewies.

Cut a washcloth into 3 strips and tie the strips into a knot. Soak the knot in water and lightly wring it out. Place them in a Ziplock bag and toss it in the freezer for a few hours until frozen. Your baby will appreciate having this cold chewy cloth to chew/gum.

Teething Gel

1 ounce pure vegetable glycerin
2 drops clove Essential Oil

Pour glycerin into a small container, add clove ESSENTIAL oil, mixing well. Test teething gel on your tongue prior to giving it to your child to be sure it isn’t too strong. (Not for very young babies)

When using essential oils be sure to use quality brands such as Young Living or doTERRA. Do not use cheap oils as they’re often filled with adulterants.
