Thanks for some ideas guys. Right now is a hard time for us since I lost my job which had us lose our insurance, half of my income gone, and my husband is laid off. I’m excited to be home with the kids, but I want to stay home and try not to find a job if I can help it and start doing things around the house like canning and laundry recipes.
I’m not used to forums, but it seems that I’ve been missing out on info. Thanks again for sharing what you all do.
You can make homemade pure vanilla extract?? I didn’t know that was possible! Ok so rookie question; what is the difference between pure and imitation vanilla?
Does anyone have any ideas where a beginner canner can begin doing more research? I’m very interested in doing this, but I don’t know the terminology of canning and since I’m staying at home now, I’d like to do this and learn all sorts of different ways and different recipes of canning. Even maybe making homemade wine when I master canning.
Gotta start somewhere and I do find deals alot, I just don’t like fruits and veggies going bad. We are doing compost and indoor gardening as well as freezing some stuff, but it seems like there is so much information, especially freezing, that I’m not sure where to begin. All this stuff is new to me and I’d like to bake bread, can, etc.
Thank you for giving me an idea on planning meals based on themes. I’m not sure if this is budget cutting or not, but it will surely help for at least planning some. I was thinking of meals based on meats 😛 I’ve been searching for recipe ideas and I have a few I want to try, but not sure how I want to go about planning meals based on which products I have the most for a few different meals where I buy a few different items or what.
Themes sounds good for a 6 year old, 3 year old, and of course the 4 month old doesn’t have an opinion yet 😛
